Eco-Schools is one of the largest global sustainable schools programme – it starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning.
Eco-Schools encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it. It starts in the classroom, it expands to the school and eventually fosters change in the community at large.
The Eco-Schools programme provides a simple, seven-step framework that answers this question whilst empowering young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond.Schools connect their activities to three or more of the Ten Eco-Schools Topics. These topics break large, global issues like climate change into more manageable and directed themes that prompt young people to consider environmental changes that they can make in their school and everyday lives
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
– Understanding environmental awareness, environmental management, and sustainable
development education,
– Teaching the students, the habits they will use throughout their lifetime,
– Getting information about world, environment, and the resources,
– Relating between garbage and recyclable materials
– Analyzing steps of the recycling system
– Creating an environmental list about any space for planting or any space for playing
– Designing creative tasks
– Preparing an action plan
– Investigating problems about environment
-participate proactively in the implementation of good environmental practices
-promote eco-culture by shifting the schools’ mindset into going green for a sustainable development through everyday school life
-provide substantial opportunities to schools to explore various environmental concepts that can be implemented, improved, developed or retrofitted at their respective premises
Preparation
Before the course,
– Participants fill in a detailed questionnaire before the course, indicating their level of experience, teaching background and training. – They also prepare a presentation reflecting their teaching method
